If you love to be challenged on your fitness, then you might want to check out the Fitocracy app! Eleanor Sullivan, Australian Institute of Fitness VIC Course Coach, reviews the app.
What is it?
Fitocracy gives you points for every workout, allows you to input your programs, workout to a pre-determined challenge or embark on a new fitness quest. It also brings together a surprisingly supportive worldwide community with groups of like-minded people catering to a range of fitness goals. It’s a colorful, user-friendly and motivating app which can also sync up with other fitness apps such as Runkeeper to gain extra functionality.
How does it work?
Once it’s downloaded onto your phone, you can sync Fitocracy to your Facebook account and see which of your social media friends have also embarked on fitness quests.
Pros
- Simple to use
- Reliable
- Free
- Very large exercise database
- Helps to track your progress and training consistency, gamer style
- Updated fairly frequently
- Progressive achievements and quests to challenge all fitness levels
Cons
- Exercise database is all text based (no pictures)
- For some workouts the points awarded seem unbalanced (bodyweight workouts score low, regardless of quantity)
Summary
