Certificate IV in Nutrition (11046NAT): Official Update
Sep 24, 2025 | by Clean Health
Nationally Recognised Nutritionist
We are proud to confirm that the Certificate IV in Nutrition (11046NAT) remains Australia’s only nationally recognised Certificate IV in Nutrition. Accredited by ASQA in 2016 and listed on training.gov.au, the accreditation is delivered exclusively by Vast Nutrition Academy (RTO 41564).
While the Australian Institute of Fitness (AIF) does not deliver this qualification directly, its place within the Clean Health Group means AIF students benefit from access to the industry’s only nationally recognised Certificate IV in Nutrition through Vast Nutrition Academy. Together, the Group provides a comprehensive pathway integrating fitness, nutrition, and wellness education.
This accreditation remains the only non-university pathway within Australia to gain formal accreditation in nutrition, allowing you to work as a Nationally Recognised Nutritionist.
For more information on the program, you can visit the Master Nutritionist page on our websitehere.
What does This Mean?
In September 2025, ASQA confirmed that the original qualification coding and conditions remain unchanged. Which means the following:
11046NAT is the sole pathway to a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Nutrition.
Graduates of this program continue to be recognised under the occupational title Nutritionist within the official ANZSCO framework.
Students can still register with the Nutrition Council of Australiaas Nationally Recognised Nutritionists (non-clinical) and gain insurance under that job title and scope of practice.
Vast Nutrition Academy (formerly Vast Fitness Academy) is the exclusive provider of this nationally recognised qualification.
Your Pathway to Recognition
The Certificate IV in Nutrition (11046NAT) stands apart for students, employers, and the wider health, fitness and nutrition sector as the only qualification Australia-wide that provides the recognition, credibility, and career pathways for non-clinical nutritionists, such as dieticians.
Short courses in nutrition may provide useful knowledge, but they are not nationally recognised qualifications. They do not offer graduates the professional recognition, career opportunities, or industry confidence that come with completing 11046NAT.
Professional Recognition – Nutrition Council of Australia (NCA)
The Nutrition Council of Australia (NCA) is the governing, national body that formally recognises the Certificate IV in Nutrition (11046NAT) qualification.
Upon completing this program, graduates can apply for professional recognition as a Nationally Recognised Nutritionist (NRN).
Once registered as an NRN with the NCA, graduates can access professional indemnity and public liability insurance through AON Insurance. This enables you to legally and confidently practise as a Nationally Recognised Nutritionist within Australia.
Importantly, this pathway ensures your recognition is secure, even if future changes are made to ANZSCO coding.
